Mike Bithell, Andrew Smith, Jim Griffiths and Peter Theophilus-Bevis to write for Develop this weekend

Coders and journalists named for 48-hour game jam

The developers and journalists swapping roles in a 48-hour gam jam hosted by Ukie, games consultant Will Luton, Develop and MCV have been chosen.

Taking place from this Friday through to Sunday, the developers turned scribes will be posting up the latest news, reviews and opinion pieces on Develop throughout the weekend, so be sure to keep an eye out right here for the latest on the innovative and groundbreaking titles being developed.

Looking to prove their prowess with words instead of coding are Spilt Milk’s Andrew Smith, Bossa Studios’ Mike Bithell, Blitz Games Studios’ Peter Theophilus-Bevis and Mediatonic’s Jim Griffiths.

Journalists who will be proving (or not) that they can take on the world of games programming will be CVG’s Rob Crossley, The Guardian’s Keith Stuart, Lewie Procter of Savy Gamer and IGN and Rock, Paper, Shotgun freelancer Dan Griliopoulos.

And to help those journalists attempting to create a masterpiece, five brave students are on hand to help with coding, and all of them can be found on Twitter. They are Theo Chin, Chris Barnes, Karn Bianco, Luc Shelton and Kevin Chandler.

Development will also be supported by artists Jake Woodruff and David Jones.

The 48-hour game jam will begin from this Friday and will finish on Sunday, at Ukie’s London HQ.

Good luck to everyone! We’ll post a full round-up and review on the weekend’s events on Monday.

Although depending on how good these developers are, I could be out of a job by then.
