Surviving a week in San Francisco can be thirsty work. After a hard day of meetings, networking and sessions at the main conference, seasoned show attendees recommends the following establishments for that all-important liquid sustenance:

The Thirsty Bear

Down the road from the Moscone Center, so you’re all but guaranteed to bump into someone you know.

The City Beer Store
1168 Folsom St, CA 94103
Close to the junction of Folsom and 8th, this outlet is a little further from the Moscone Center but offers a wide selection of beers.

Jillian’s
175 4th St, CA 94103
This sports bar is just a stone’s throw away from GDC’s Registration area – perfect if you’ve just picked up your pass.

Chevy’s Fresh Mex
201 3rd St, CA 94103
This Mexican restaurant is said to be quieter thank other drinking holes, and does a nice line in margaritas.

Jamber Wine Pub
858 Folsom St, CA 94107
While billed as a wine bar, Jamber still offers an extensive beer menu. Far enough from GDC that you’ve got a decent chance of getting a seat

The W Hotelbar
181 3rd St, CA 94103
A trendy hotel very close to the GDC venue, with a highly popular bar in the lobby.

The RedwoodRooms
495 Geary St, CA 94102
Found in the Clift Hotel, legend has it that the original panelling and bar were carved from a single redwood tree. Bear that in mind when you spill your beer.

The Starlight Room
450 Powell St, CA 94108
Claiming to have defined cocktail culture, this swanky bar is found 21 stories above the Sir Francis Drake hotel.
