New studio Prettygreat founded by Halfbrick veterans

Crossy Road dev joins $500,000 funding for Australian start-up

The duo behind Hipster Whale has helped to fund a new developer in Australia.

Prettygreat has completed an early stage round of seed funding to the tune of $500,000, with key investors including Matt Hall and Andy Sum, the creators of Crossy Road.

The new studio was founded in February by three former Halfbrick employees, including Phil Larsen, Hugh Walters and Fruit Ninja creaotr Luke Muscat.

The trio will use the funding to create and release multiple mobile titles, the first of which is due this year. Hall and Sum, meanwhile, will become shareholders and advisors for Prettygreat.

"Our priority is smart innovation and design excellence with every game we release," said Prettygreat MD Phil Larsen.

"Matt and Andy’s vision is to add more fun to the world in a mobile market more receptive to quality than ever. We’re absolutely stoked to have them on board, because making awesome stuff, sharing it with the world and doing it for the players is the Prettygreat way."
