Former Naughty Dog and Irrational artist Nate Wells joins Tomb Raider studio

Crystal Dynamics hires The Last of Us art director

Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics has recruited Nate Wells, who served as art director on Naughty Dog’s seminal The Last of Us.

Wells left the Uncharted studio earlier this year to work with The Unfinished Swan dev Giant Sparrow, again as art director. He will presumably hold the same position at Crystal Dynamics.

He revealed his new role via Twitter, Gamasutra reports.

Prior to working at Naughty Dog, he spent more than ten years working at Irrational Games, serving as art director on BioShock Infinite. Irrational was let go most of its staff earlier this year, but has since revealed it is hiring.

Crystal Dynamics is currently working on Rise of the Tomb Raider, the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2013 reboot. The game is due in 2015 and will be temporarily exclusive to Xbox One.
