Heroine redesigned in new era for the longstanding series

Crystal Dynamics revives Lara

Square Enix’s Californian studio Crystal Dynamics is in full production on a re-imagining of the Tomb Raider series.

The next title, simply entitled Tomb Raider, appears to feature a completely redrawn Lara.

The game portrays a more bitter tone than the series is known for.

A statement read: “After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone she has only on goal, to survive”.

The first details of the game are scheduled to be shown in the next issue of Game Informer magazine.

Square Enix previously hinted at renovating the Lara Croft image to a more “female friendly” audience after sales of the series lost ground.
