Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4 will feature a PlayStation VR chapter allowing players to explore Croft Manor

Crystal Dynamics will take Tomb Raider into virtual reality and first-person for the first time

The PS4 debut of Rise of the Tomb Raider will see several new game mechanics introduced to the long-running adventure franchise.

An Xbox One timed exclusive when it was originally released last year, later coming to PC, Rise of the Tomb Raider will hit Sony’s console on October 11th, two days before the PlayStation VR headset launches on October 13th.

To make the most of the VR hardware, developer Crystal Dynamics has built a new mission playable in virtual reality called Blood Ties, which will let players look around Lara Croft’s manor home.

As a result of the design requirements of VR, the mission will also be in first-person – a first for the series.

Blood Ties will tie into another new mission, Lara’s Nightmare, which will pit the heroine against a zombie attack.
