VFX firm Digital Domain partners with DreamWorks to bring Shrek to VR

Visual effects specialist Digital Domain has struck a deal with DreamWorks Animation to develop VR experiences based on the film studio’s most successful IP.

Among the franchises set to make the jump into virtual reality are Shrek and Kung Fu Panda, which were highlighted as the first VR releases from the company.

In early June, Digital Domain bolstered its position in the VR sector by purchasing virtual reality developer Digital Funk Machine and forming Digital Domain Interactive, led by the studio’s founder, Jeremy Airey.

The division was said at the time to be focused on producing VR content, as well as other ‘interactive experiences’.
