Games Academy in German bolsters growing educational scheme for CryEngine 2

Crytek nabs another academic partner

German studio Crytey’s CryEngine 2 has been licensed by games educator Games Academy for use in its teaching.

Games Academy will use the engine in its teaching, with students given the chance to build their projects using the studio’s technology.

It’s the second institute to licence the tech after American college Ringling signed up to the use the engine last month.

The engine itself is being showcased in Crytek’s next game, Crysis.

“We really thank Crytek´s management for their willingness to make their technology available for educational programs. Our students will start bringing this license to life with juicy projects," commented Thomas Dlugaiczyk, principal of Games Academy.

In a joint statement, Avni and Faruk Yerli, MDs and founders of Crytek, added: "We are very happy with the Games Academy being the first educational institution in Europe licensing our CryEngine 2. With this deal we are actively supporting the development of promising talents for the industry, as well we improve people’s skills in using graphical high end technologies."
