Prometechâ??s hydrodynamic simulator OctaveEngine to launch mid-December and power Tekken 6

Namco signs up new Japanese middleware

Japanese technology company Prometech has developed a ‘natural environment middleware’ solution, the OctaveEngine and has already seen the technology signed up by Namco Bandai for use in Tekken 6.

A hydrodynamics simulator that can run comfortably in next-gen console environments, OctaveEngine lets developers embed fast and accurate dynamic water simulation into their titles.

The technology is based on university research. In addition to fluid simulation, the middleware can be used to accurately simulate the colour of the sky and other small body particle systems such as sand.

The OctaveEngine is set for a mid-December release. More information can be found at the official site.
