Monnier will be working on an open-world fantasy title

Damien Monnier, senior designer on The Witcher 3, announces move to Techland

Damien Monnier, senior designer on The Witcher 3, has announced today that he’ll be joining Polish studio Techland as the lead designer on an as-yet unannounced new project.

Monnier announced he was leaving Projekt Red last month via Twitter, but it seems he’s not leaving The Witcher 3 entirely alone: Techland’s new title is, according to Eurogamer, an open-world fantasy title that takes cues from fantasy titles. Monnier worked on The Witcher 3 for four years before his departure from the company, in addition to being one of the lead designers on the standalone version of Gwent.

"As a whole, we’re extremely excited to welcome all the recent additions to the Techland family,” said an emailed statement from Techland. “We’ve got really big ambitions for our next internally developed games so people with ingenious ideas as well as the skill and knowledge to bring them to life are absolutely essential."
