Data: Devs bolstered by growing PSN market

Digital game developers have a better chance than ever to make a killing on the PlayStation Network, new research claims.

An independent study claims the online market grew 40 per cent in the latter half of 2010, when compared to last year.

It is claimed that the digital store took $9.3 million in December alone.

Sony has not verified the data.

“After a rough start in the digital market, with most major titles debuting on Xbox Live Arcade first, Sony’s digital platform has seen significant growth, especially among multi-platform titles,” said market research firm FADE.

The group estimated PSN growth was outpacing Microsoft’s rival online service XBLA, which itself still grew 18 per cent over the same period.
