Dragon Quest dev working on football RPG

Level 5, the developer behind Japan’s favourite RPG series, Dragon Quest, and recent PS2 RPG Rogue Galaxy, has announced that it is working on a football-based RPG for DS called Inazume Eleven.

IGN reports that the game follows the tales of a school football team as it battles its way to the top of the schooling sports leagues. It will feature a story mode that sees gamers wondering around the campus and local town recruiting new talent to the team.

In addition, come match day the action will be fully controllable – in a typical Japanese RPG stylee, at least – with tactics dealt with via the DS’ touch screen.

No word has been given on its release, or indeed on whether there are any plans to bring it to the West, but don’t expect anything before 2008.
