Publisher highlights social elements of game as new connective features are unveiled

E3 2012: FIFA ‘Football’s social network’, says EA

At the E3 2012 press conference, EA called the FIFA football franchise "Football’s social network".

The new vision of the game as a dialogue between fans comes as EA unveils new features to the hit series that will take the bestselling football game to the social scene.

The heart of this social network is the ‘Football Club’, which the publisher claims has over 11 million members.

Fans will now be able to connect their FIFA empire to games played on iOS devices, as well as an iPhone app, expanding EA’s dream of a multiplatform experience that can be played how, when, and where a customer choses.

EA also revealed what sounded like a microtransaction or subscription service with social elements.
