EA signs multi-year license with UFC

E3 2012: THQ sells UFC franchise to EA

EA has announced the purchase of the rights to the UFC franchise from troubled rival THQ.

UFC predident Dana White took the stage at EA’s E3 2012 press conference to announce the multi-year, multi-product deal.

The franchise was held until recent months by THQ, which has met with a number of financial setbacks as the heavy costs of licensed games took its toll.

It is unknown what compensation THQ recieved in the deal, but the last game in the UFC series shipped over a million copies, making it one of the top sellers for the publisher.
