Multiplayer returns to the series in a new co-op adventure

E3 2015: The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes announced

Nintendo has unveiled a new multiplayer entry in The Legend of Zelda series, Triforce Heroes.

In development for 3DS, the game harks back to the Four Swords games, except this time the action revolves around three players rather than four.

The key new feature here is the Totem mechanic, which allows the three players to stack up and reach higher areas. In fact, this is why the player limit is three – the developers found a four-player totem was too high.

Single players will still be able to enjoy the game, switching between the three characters on the fly.

Nintendo has also introduced a new system where Link can collect different outfits, each of which offer him a different ability.

The game is built on the same tech as The Legend of Zelda: Between Worlds, the Link To The Past remake released for 3DS in 2012.

Zelda producer Eiji Anouma also took the opportunity to confirm a 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors is currently in development, adding new characters and content from The Wind Waker HD.

Neither title was given a release date.
