EA delays ‘major’ social game

Publishing giant Electronic Arts has delayed a “important” social game based on a “major piece of the EA brand IP”.

Speaking in a conference call to investors, EA CEO John Riccitiello revealed that the game in question was being moved to release in Q1 of the 2013 fiscal year.

The publisher did not reveal what game this would be however, but Ricitiello said the move would hurt the company’s fourth quarter earnings.

EA studios known to release or be developing social games include BioWare Social, Playfish, EA Play and EA Sports.
