Publisher to release key games for US and European gamers on digital distribution platform

EA finally partners with Valve’s Steam

It’s taken a while, but EA has finally made the jump onto the Steam digital distribution platform.

For some time, the publisher-developer was in a minority of those large publishers not using the Valve-run service to sell its games digitally to PC gamers.

However the firm has partnered with Valve to offer the likes of Spore, Spore Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Mass Effect, Need for Speed(tm) Undercover and FIFA Manager 2009 on the service.

Mirror’s Edge, Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, and Dead Space will also be available on the platform in the coming weeks also.

The games are available to users in both North America and Europe.

EA runs its own digital download service, EA Store, as well.

"EA is one of the industry’s largest publishers," commented Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "The EA titles coming to Steam this holiday include some this year’s top PC titles."

John Pleasants, president of Global Publishing and COO at EA added: "We are pleased to extend our holiday titles to gamers worldwide via Steam – a revolutionary technology that is one of the game industry’s most successful digital distribution services."
