Titles will stay live for a further 90 days before shutting down for good

EA taking four free-to-play PC games offline

EA is closing a number of its free-to-play titles on PC, including Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Play4Free, Need for Speed World and FIFA World.

The publisher claimed the games were not as popular as they once were, so it had made the decision to stop development and wind down support.

The titles will be live for another 90 days. Following this, they will go offline for good.

“While we say farewell to these free-to-play titles in the next few months, we are always exploring new concepts and ways to bring great games to more players around the world,” said EA Studios executive VP Patrick Söderlund.
