Unity partner recruiting to help develop the technology for consoles

Engine Room Games turns five

Little-known UK firm Engine Room Games has in fact been in business for five years, as of today.

The Bristol-based firm was formed in November 2008 by Alex McLean, Tim Cannell and Paul Dunning, and has assisted with the development of games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bodycount and the F1 series, including F1 Race Stars.

This year, Engine Room has opened a second office in Stratford-upon-Avon and secured a partnership with Unity, developing the technology for consoles, with a current focus on the PlayStation formats, including PS4.

The three founders boast over 75 years of experience in games development between them, harking back to the 8-bit and 16-bit eras.

"We’re very pleased to be both celebrating our fifth anniversary and also to have opened a second office in Warwickshire," said McLean. "We are also very much looking forward to adding new team members to both sites to assist us with our Unity work. Here’s to the next five years."

While the company has purposefully grown itself behind the scenes since 2008, Engine Room Games plans to raise its profile in 2014, partly through its work on Unity.
