GC Developers Conference talk to explore Age of Empires' success

Ensemble founders to deliver Leipzig keynote

A keynote speech looking at the success of Ensemble Studios’ Age of Empires has been added to the bill of next week’s GC Developers Conference in Leipzig.

Studio head Tony Goodman and designers Brian Sullivan and Bruce Shelley will reunite to discuss the history and creation of the game, which this year is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

"The three of us have all gone on with our lives since 1997 and it will be entertaining, and I hope educational, to hear what the three of us think now about the struggle to make this game over ten years ago," said Bruce Shelley.

"Age of Empires is a major milestone in the history of the game industry," said Frank Sliwka, director of GCDC. "Pulling together nearly the complete founding team of Ensemble Studios to discuss the development process is a definite highlight of GCDC 2007."

A list of speakers at the developer conference can be found here – for more info on the event, which runs from August 20th to 22nd, head to the official site.
