VR tutorial resource, Unreal dev channel and VR sculpting tools join ‘conventional’ games in recipients of funding

Epic hands out fresh $80,000 in grants to Unreal devs

Unreal Engine firm Epic Games has announced the latest studios and individuals awarded by its Unreal Dev Grants initiative.

The programme launched last February with a total of $5 million to give out to projects built and supporting Unreal Engine 4.

The $80,000 handed out in this latest round brings the total amount donated to $1.3 million.

Among the latest recipients is Mitch McCaffrey, creator of VR tutorial series and portal Mitch’s VR Lab, as well as Unreal Slackers creator Nick Pfisterer, who founded the popular slack channel dedicated to creators using the tool and also organises the Portland event UnrealPDX.

They join Nathan Rowe, the developer of SculptrVR, a creation tool designed for virtual reality.

The more conventional projects funded by the programme include High Horse Entertainment’s competitive sports game Disc Jam, Hero Machine’s tactical RPG shooter Kinetik and PixelTail Games’ PC MMO Tower Unite.
