Quintuplet working on five original games

Five women devs pocket £3k from Queen of Code initiative

Five women developers will each receive £3,000 from Creative England as part of its Queen of Code match-funding initiative with Crowdfunder.

Recipients include Fareed developer Farah Lutfi, Lux & the Shadowmaker dev Constance Fleuriot, Pocket Drakes outfit Picnic Gaming, Star Catcher creator Alice Bowman and Thinking developer Slie Labs.

The quintuplet of developers came out top in a pool of 50 applications to garner the most backers to receive the additional funding, on top of the money raised through the crowd.

“It’s fantastic to see these women on the path to making their ideas a reality while setting an example for diversity in the games industry,” said Creative England CEO Caroline Norbury.

“At Creative England we are always looking for new ways to provide much needed funding, and with our first foray into crowdfunding, Queen of Code has proved to be an accessible and innovative method of alternative finance for these dedicated games makers.

“We look forward to the next opportunity to join forces and offer something unique to England’s creative industries.”
