Audrey Leprince and Emeric Thoa want to create triple-A games for mobile platforms

Former Ubisoft devs form mobile studio

Audrey Leprince and Emeric Thoa, former Ubisoft devs with experience on titles like Tom Clancy’s EndWar and Splinter Cell: Double Agent, have formed a new mobile games studio called The Game Bakers.

The studio aims to create triple-A products for mobile, and will ‘focus on smaller scale, more agile creative projects that will take advantage of the opportunities afforded by touch devices and the exploding mobile market.’

The new company will be based in Paris and Montpellier, France, and has said that it has already hired a raft of ‘senior developers and talents from the video game world and the comic book industry.’

“When you come out of a long console game development, it’s a breath of fresh air to work on shorter development cycles, with smaller development teams, and have a direct connection with the gamers,” Leprince said.

“It’s a lot of work and presents a lot of new challenges, but it feels like this is where the future of gaming is happening. A lot of senior developers seem to be thinking along those lines, and it’s a great experience to be making games with people who would rather do nothing else but what they are doing.”

The Game Bakers’ first game, SQUIDS, is a mobile, PC and Mac title set for release in Autumn 2011.
