Sony promises to provide 'great indie game experiences' on PS4

GDC 13: 25 indies sign up for PS4, Vita and Mobile

A wave of 25 indie developers have signed up to bring their games to the PS4, Vita, PlayStation Mobile and PS3.

Revealing the news at GDC 13, Sony announced developers such as Limbo creator Playdead, Zombie Studios, Mike Bithell, FuturLab and Dennaton Games would be supporting PlayStation platforms.

In a blog post, SCEA VP of publisher and developer relations Adam Boyes said the console giant’s goal was to work with the indie community “to provide fantastic games you can’t find anywhere else”.

“Our team is going full steam ahead by not only providing support for developers on our current platforms, but also for those working on next-gen titles,” said Boyes.

“We’re expanding our indie support for PlayStation 4 with games like Primal Carnage: Genesis and Blacklight: Retribution, which will join titles like The Witness to ensure you’ll have great indie game experiences on our next gaming console.

“This recent influx in developer support for PlayStation has come through our continued effort to create a flexible and developer friendly environment. We’re also focusing on burgeoning platforms like PlayStation Mobile by offering Unity support, coming later this year, to make it easier than ever for developers to bring their games to PlayStation-certified Android devices and PS Vita.”
