Upcoming developer conference to add focus to the bourgeoning mobile platform

GDC Austin to feature dedicated iPhone session

The upcoming Game Developers Conference Austin event is set to stage a brand new iPhone Games Summit, with organisers Think Services also confirming that the occasion will see the Independent Games Summit arrive for the first time.

GDC Austin’s two-day iPhone Summit will provide discussions on iPhone and iPod Touch development. Specific speaker sessions will be announced shortly, though it has been confirmed that discussion will include app optimisation, touch interface, OS 3.0 as well as Objective-C tips and guides.

There will also be a dissection of successful iPhone games, looking through the business, marketing, and key design paradigms behind each. The advisory board for the iPhone Summit will include Pangea Software president Brian Greenstone and Snappy Touch’s Noel Llopis, maker of Flower Garden.

Meanwhile, the Independent Game Summit will offer speaker sessions from the likes of Certain Affinity’s Jennifer Bullard, Gaijin Games’ Alex Neuse and Fantastic Contraption’s Colin Northway. More info on the individual sessions can be found here.

Taking place from Sep 15-18 at the Austin Convention Center in Texas, GDC Austin will also feature sessions on game audio and game writers.
