Paul Sage departs Zenimax Online Studios for Borderlands firm

Gearbox nabs Elder Scrolls Online creative director

The creative director for Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls Online has left the studio, taking on a new role at Gearbox Software.

Paul Sage’s departure was confirmed via the game’s official forum by a spokesperson at developer Zenimax Online Studios, Eurogamer reports.

“Paul left ZOS after the launch of ESOTU on console,” the post reads. “He along with the rest of the team are very happy with how the game is doing and we wish him the best in his future endeavours.”

Sage now takes up the position of creative director at Gearbox Software, which is currently hiring for people to work on Borderlands 3. It is not known whether Sage will be assigned to this project.

The console version of The Elder Scrolls Online will now be in the hands of new creative director Rich Lambert and game director Matt Firor. Lambert oversaw all content in the game as lead content designer and previously worked on Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
