Global illumination solution used by Capcom to provide indirect lighting for overhauled appearance of fighting game sequel

Geomerics’ lighting tech Enlighten used in Street Fighter V

Street Fighter is back with a brand new look – and lighting tool Enlighten helped play a part in the brawler’s fresh appearance.

Geomerics’ real-time global illumination solution was used by Capcom when rebuilding the PS4 and PC title – the first Street Fighter entry on the new generation of hardware.

Enlighten’s spherical harmonic probe technology, which shades objects moving at runtime, provided indirect lighting for the game’s characters.

"We couldn’t have brought the characters and stages to life like we did in Street Fighter V without the help from the team at Geomerics and their Enlighten technology," said Bochan Kim, producer for Street Fighter V at Capcom.

Enlighten was also recently licensed by Angry Birds Go developer Exient for a new mobile game.
