Collaboration tool used in more than five million projects

GitHub surpasses three million users

More than three million users have signed up to development collaboration tool GitHub.

The management tool allows developers to share code with co-workers, track potential bugs, display graphs to show development progress, take part in live discussions about specific code and can be used on desktop or mobile devices.

GitHub was launched in April 2008, and by September 2011 it had accrued one million users.

The tool attracted a further two million users by August 2012, which means it has garnered an extra million developers in just five months to bring the total to three million registered users.

As well as hitting the developer milestone, the tool has been used on more than five million projects.
