Gree sheds 200 staff and closes Osaka office

Gree has closed its office in Osaka, Japan and is set to layoff 200 employees.

As translated by Serkan Toto, the mobile giant has offered voluntary retirement plans to 200 of its staff, which represents 11 per cent of its global workforce. Applications for the deal will be accepted between October 9th and 28th.

The 30 employees which made up the Osaka office, formed just last year, were also offered a similar deal, but with the option of moving to Gree’s Tokyo headquarters instead.

The news comes shortly after Gree closed its London office, less than a year after announcing its plans to staff up its UK branch.

The mobile firm also laid of 30 employees from its San Francisco office in May, having already made 25 staff at the office redundant in December last year.
