GTA heading to iPhone

In a move that boosts iPhone’s gaming platform credentials arguably more than any other before it, Rockstar Games has revealed plans to release two new titles for the iPhone – specifically, adaptations of two games developed by its Develop Award-winning Leeds studio.

The firm is lining up both upcoming title Beaterator – made in collaboration with Timbaland, and in gestation for some time – and GTA: Chinatown Wars for the Apple device.

"The simple, pick-up-and-play nature of Beaterator lends itself so well to the Apple platforms," said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games.

"We are happy to deliver an application that allows for such unprecedented sharing and ease-of-use."

Of the GTA title, he said: "Chinatown Wars is a perfect match for the iPhone and iPod touch.

"We are very excited to bring this incredibly ambitious version of Liberty City, with this level of detail and immersive gameplay on Apple’s new gaming platforms."
