GungHo acquires Grasshopper Manufacture

Japanese publisher the GungHo Group has bought Lollipop Chainsaw developer Grasshopper Manufacture.

Grasshopper and its famously eccentric head, Goichi Suda aka Suda 51, are currently working on Killer is Dead, and have created several cult titles in the past, such as No More Heroes and Killer 7.

GungHo Group published a statement on its website explaining that it is merging the planning and development muscle of Grasshopper Manufacture with its management of online games cultivated to produce high quality content.

GungHo publishes online and mobile games, such as Ragnarok Online and Dragon Saga.

How the acquisition will affect Grasshopper’s current and future projects remains to be detailed.
