£99 edition of character animation software aimed at smaller studios

IKinema RunTime-Indie now available

Tools provider IKinema has created an indie edition of its flagship animation middleware, IK RunTime.

RunTime-Indie is ‘technically identical’ to its forebear, the firm promises, giving smaller and independent studios access to the same character animation tools used by Microsoft, Square Enix and more. RunTime is used in titles such as the upcoming Scalebound.

The tool is integrated with Unreal Engine 4 and, like the full RunTime, enables devs to create in-game characters that react to changing environments and can scale virtual obstacles quickly and realistically.

A new full rig editor will also allow devs to rig characters of all sizes directly within the engine rather than using third-party tools. This has also been added to RunTime.

RunTime-Indie is priced at £99. Using the code RT-INDIE-6Jan before January 24th will give studios a 30 per cent discount on new licences as part of the tool’s launch campaign.

You can find out more at IKinema’s website.
