Philip Bang joins from Wooga to oversee strategy games

InnoGames hires new studio director

InnoGames has hired Philip Bang as its new studio director, putting him in charge of key titles Tribal Wars and Grepolis.

The appointment is part of ongoing restructuring that will see all of the firm’s games spread across four studios: three in InnoGames’ Hamburg HQ and another in Dusseldorf.

Bang joins the company from Wooga, where he was product lead. Prior to this, he served as senior producer and managing director at Bigpoint, and a producer at Replay Studios.

At InnoGames, he will also oversee other strategy games throughout their development.

“Leading several very distinct teams will be a challenge, and a great opportunity,” he said in a statement. “We have the chance to learn from each other and benefit from each other’s success. I’m looking forward to being part of that success.”

Chief Product Officer Armin Busen added: “Philip’s character and long-time professional experience in the gaming industry fit well to InnoGames and this role. We’re confident he will be a key player in reaching our ambitious growth goals in the years to come

“We believe in the power of small teams, combining young talent and the very experienced to build great games for various platforms. The new studio structure enables us to successfully do this.”
