12-week stint at Candy Crush developer begins in July across Europe

King opens up game dev internship programme to 100 students

King is launching its first game developer internship programme in July for 100 students across Europe.

The Candy Crush Saga developer will run the 12-week paid internship across its European studios in London, Barcelona, Berlin, Bucharest, Malmo and Stockholm.

The programme is open to both undergraduates and postgraduates, and will allow them to work on various aspects of its games business, such as game development, optimisation, market analysis and financial modelling.

Internships at the Candy Crush Saga developer will begin from July 2014. King has recommended those interested apply early.

“We’re delighted to be able to welcome undergraduate and postgraduate students to King this year," said chief people officer Ciara Smyth.

"While it’s true that at some internships, you might not get involved in te nitty gritty of the business, that’s not true of the King internship programme."

“Our internships will be packed full of opportunity to work on real projects from game creation and optimisation to market analysis or financial modeling. Our games gurus will be on hand for our interns both in the games studios and workshops throughout the programme, so students will gain a deep understanding of the games industry from the inside and will learn directly from the teams that are making things happen at King.”
