UK social games company takes home at 'Silicon Roundabout'

London-based Bossa comes out of hiding

A new UK games studio has finally come out of hiding today with the launch of its new site.

London-based Bossa Studios’ co-founders include veterans of Jagex and Blitz Games plus an exec from luxury phone firm Vertu.

The leadership team are Henrique Olifiers (co-founder and gamer-in-chief), Roberta Lucca (co-founder and marketer-in-chief), Ric Moore (co-founder and technologist-in-chief) plus Imre Jele (co-founder and creator-in-chief).

Bossa’s offices are at the ‘Silicon Roundabout’, near Old Street, central London.

Although the team has been going strong for some time – they even attended our May Develop Quiz in central London – this is the first time the team has gone public.

Previously they have hinted at plans to launch more core gamer focused games on the typically casual social sites like Facebook.

New site bossastudios.com says the first games for Facebook ‘will see the light of day pretty soon’.

"Our studio has the best, most creative, free ‘working’ environment in the industry," says the firm’s mission statement online.

[Industry news] Physical disc production ending in January 2028 for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles

"As consumer preferences and the broader entertainment industry continue to shift away from physical discs to digital, physical game disc production for all new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will be discontinued starting January 2028.  Following this date, new games will be available on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats only. This transition has no impact on games that already released, or will be releasing, prior to January 2028 in disc format."
