Latest version of indie content creation tool launches Wednesday, March 26th

Maya LT 2016 adds advanced animation tools and content storefront

Autodesk has lifted the lid on some of the features indies can expect from the upcoming release of Maya LT 2016.

Chief among these is the Creative Market content storefront. Having acquired Creative Market last year, Autodesk will enable Maya LT users to purchase 3D content via dedicated landing page within the program. The storefront will be curated with game makers in mind.

Maya LT 2016 also introduces advanced animation tools such as Spline IK, which helps users animate non-humanoid characters. Meanwhile, a Game Exporter update will make it easier to manage and export multiple animation clips.

The new release will also facilitate high-level sculpting on models without a separate tool, and physically-based ShaderFX nodes will let artists design more realistic and high quality materials.

Finally, background texture loading enables artists to begin working without waiting for the entire scene to load.

Maya LT 2016 will be launch on Wednesday, March 26th. It is available on a subscription basis, with pay-as-you go monthly, quarterly or annual options.
