Merge on the hunt for UK indie games developers

Publisher Merge Games plans to be the No.1 indie label in the North of Britain.

The firm also hopes its strategy of working with leading British games creators will see it become one of the UK’s biggest publishers overall.

The news comes as the company prepares to release games – both digitally and physically – for PS4 and Xbox One.

We want to be known as the No.1 publisher in the North and one of the biggest publishers for indie games in the UK,” said MD Luke Keighran. We understand it’s going to take some time, but that’s our ambition.”

He continued: We’ve got some really great indie developers that we are working with and more and more of them are from the UK. We’ve got Leeds’ Laser Dog working on Hopiko, Tango Fiesta being made in London by Spilt Milk, Mainlining which is being handled by Sam Read at Suffolk-based Rebelephant, and then Sublevel Zero by Sigtrap from Manchester. We’re really actively pushing and supporting UK developers because there’s lots of great talent right on our doorstep.”
