Mind Candy to make console debut with PlayStation-exclusive World of Warriors

Moshi Monsters creator Mind Candy is to make its console debut.

The studio confirmed that it is collaborating with PlayStation on a console title based in the World of Warriors universe.

World of Warriors originally launched for mobile in 2014, and was described as ‘Horrible Histories meets Game of Thrones meets Pokémon’ by company founder Michael Acton Smith.

The game’s business model is freemium, with revenue generated by micro-transaction purchases of ‘wildstones’.

Mind Candy’s Brighton-based Candy Labs division, which created World of Warriors, was closed last November, with Acton Smith citing the trouble of transitioning from browser to mobile.

While further details on the PlayStation spin-off remain scarce, the release will mark Mind Candy’s first-ever title for a home console platform. It previously released Moshi Monsters: Moshling Zoo for Nintendo DS.

"We don’t have any more information on the Sony game currently as we do not have a definite release date as yet," said CEO Ian Chambers.

"Mind Candy remain the owners of the World of Warriors IP and are always looking to grow and develop the franchise."
