Kongregate teams with Ubisoft with a $10,000 grand prize on offer

Mizuguchi to judge ‘Rez in Flash’ dev contest

A new Flash developer competition is challenging entrants to build an online game in the ‘synesthesia’ style of Dreamcast classic Rez.

The contest, hosted on popular games portal Kongregate, is offering a $15,000 cash pool for three winning entries, with a $10,000 grand prize.

Entrants building the games in Flash will have to "create a game that synchronizes music and unique gameplay", much in the style of Rez and upcoming release Child of Eden.

Twenty-five finalists will have their work assessed by Rez creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi, who is one of the contest’s four judges.

The competition comes via a joint venture between Kongregate and leading publisher Ubisoft.

Ubisoft is gearing up for the upcoming release of Mizuguchi’s PS3 and Xbox title Child Of Eden – a spiritual successor to Rez.

Entries are being accepted starting today, with a final submission deadline of June 21.

More information, and additional rules of entry, are available at the official contest page.
