Lucas Pope’s Papers, Please has taken home the Seumas McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game at this year’s IGF Awards.
The title has sweeped up numerous accolades during the last year, and as well as the taking the top prize Pope was awarded with $30,000 and also won the Excellence in Narrative and Excellence in Design awards.
Jason Roberts won the award for Excellence in Visual Art for his puzze title Gorogoa, while the Nuovo Award, which recognises abstract, shortform and unconventional game development, went to Tale of Tales for its musical touch-based title Luxuria Superbia.
Hoppo Games won the Best Student Game accolade for its action-platform Risk of Rain and Simogo won Excellence in Audio for puzzle game Device 6.
The Audience Award went to Galactic Cafe’s The Stanley Parable.
