EA dubs launch 'most successful in history'

Plants vs. Zombies 2 snags 25m downloads

Plants vs. Zombies 2 has already beaten out its popular forerunner for total lifetime downloads, attaining 25 million in just two weeks.

The news comes just ten days after EA revealed the Popcap sequel had reached the 16 million mark – a good sign for its free-to-play strategy.

EA is calling the launch the most successful in gaming history, which might be a stretch if conversions are off, but the numbers are still quite impressive.

The figure is even more of a jaw-dropper when you consider it’s just a single platform responsible for all the downloads, as the game is an iOS exclusive.

EA was the number one global publisher of iOS games for the June quarter, and this launch will do a lot to make sure the company keeps its top spot.
