Tech features screen space ambient occlusion, higher quality depth of field effects and lens dirt

Post-processing effects tool Yebis 3 launches this summer

Silicon Studio is set to release the third iteration of its post-processing effects tool Yebis this summer.

The latest release features blur simulation, lens aberration and correction simulation, higher quality depth of field effects, lens dirt and screen space ambient occlusion.

Yebis 3 will support games developed for PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Vita, Windows, iOS and Android.

The tool was first announced in Japan last month at the Game Tools and Middleware Forum 2014, but speaking to Develop, Silicon Studio executive director Fumiko Kato revealed the firm is now eyeing a summer launch for the tech.

“We’re planning to launch Yebis 3 this summer,” he said. “We are going to promote in Japan first, and then prepare to release overseas. We’ll be promoting there as well.”
