PlayStation Plus subscriptions reach 10.9m

PS4 sales top 18.5 million

Sales of Sony’s PS4 console have surpassed 18.5 million, the firm has announced in a press release translated by Reuters.

That means the new-gen system sold some five million units since the end of September last year, when it was revealed the hardware had shifted 13.5m units.

PlayStation Plus subscriptions meanwhile have passed the 10.9m mark as of January 2nd.

In November, Microsoft’s announced its rival Xbox One console had sold nearly ten million units to retail, though it has not released any further figures since. Sales are thought to have buoyed over the holiday period however, with the Xbox One said to have outsold the PS4 in the UK and US during November.
