Stalwart developer denies move to new facility in Birmingham

Rare staying put, rep confirms

A spokesperson for Twycross-based developer Rare has told to Develop that the studio will not be moving its operations to Birmingham.

Reports circulating earlier today suggested that the Viva Piñata developer was going to handle all development matters in a new facility set up in Birmingham, casting doubt over the future of the developer’s longstanding Twycross studio.

A Birmingham Post article claimed that Rare “is in the final stages” of buying offices at Digbeth’s Fazeley Studios in Birmingham.

“I can categorically assure you that Rare are not moving from their present premises,” the spokesperson told Develop.

Despite confirming that Rare won’t move operations, the rep declined to comment on the Birmingham-based offices which Microsoft is supposedly set to purchase.
