Two of the biggest movie and game franchises merge for latest instalment in the hit series

Rovio and LucasArts join forces for Angry Birds Star Wars

Rovio has lifted the lid on its latest entry into its flagship series, Angry Birds Star Wars.

As reported by USA Today, merging the mammoth franchises in gaming and cinema, Rovio and Lucasarts are set to launch the game on November 8th on iOS, Android and other platforms.

The game will adopt the usual Angry Brids style gameplay seen in Rio and Space, with various levels set on famous Star Wars locales such as Tatooine and Hoth.

Red Bird will take on the persona of Luke Skywalker, whilst others adopt the likeness of classic Star Wars characters such as Han Solo, Princess Leia, C3PO, R2D2, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Chewbacca.

The pigs meanwhile have adopted the likeness of Stormtroopers, tie fighters and Darth Vader.

As well as the main game, the title is set to spawn a series of merchandise in the form of toys, clothing and action figures.
