Angry Birds developer continues recruitment drive with third appointment

Rovio Stockholm hires ex-Ubisoft senior programmer

Rovio Stockholm has made its third hire in the shape of ex-Ubisoft senior gameplay programmer Magnus Runesson.

Revealing the news on Twitter, studio head Oskar Burman said it would be the third time the two have worked together, having previously both held jobs at EA Easy and Unique Development Studios.

Runesson joins the Angry Bird developer’s new Sweden studio as senior programmer.

The move follows the appointment of ex-DICE senior producer Patrick Liu as creative director.

As well as previously working at Ubisoft, EA and UDS, Runesson has also had stints had a number of other developers including Exient, Grin, Starbreeze and Avalanche.

Burman and Liu are currently in the process of putting a team together at the new Rovio Stockholm studio, which will support the Angry Birds developer with current and upcoming projects.

Liu previously hinted in an interview with Develop that the studio could be working on new IP away from the Angry Birds franchise.
