COO next in line to take reigns at publisher, claims source

Rumour: Moore to replace Riccitiello as EA CEO

EA CEO John Riccitiello may be asked to step down some time after the July 30th earnings report, claims a confidential source.

He will be replaced by COO Peter Moore.

The rumor, reported by Game Front, comes a day after Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter told an audience at the Develop Conference in Brighton that Riccitiello "fears for his job".

Though Pachter later claimed he was kidding, this latest development is cause for consideration.

The source said the changes had yet to be finalized, and would still be put to a vote, but said it was clear there was growing concern over the company’s falling stock price.

Riccitiello served as President and COO at EA from 1997 to 2004, but left the publisher for a short spell to found Elevation partners.

He returned in 2007 as CEO.
