Scaleform courts Chinese MMO devs

Scaleform has cemented a major push into China, with four of the region’s top MMO producers all signed up to use its GFx Flash UI technology.

The9, Shanda, Gamania and Nineyou will all be using Scaleform GFx to power their forthcoming MMOs. A Pearl Research report estimated that China’s MMO market will be worth $5.5 billion by 2012.

"Scaleform is dedicated to fully supporting the rapidly growing game development community in China," said Brendan Iribe, president and CEO of Scaleform. "We have a fully localized presence, with Scaleform staff based in Shanghai, and localised documentation and support to provide our Chinese customers with the highest level of service."

Ben Mowery, director at Scaleform, added: "Compelling user interfaces are essential to the success of any MMO. Scaleform GFx enables our customers to leverage the workflow efficiency of Flash and Scaleform’s MMO building blocks to create and skin rich chat, inventory and other complex MMO UI systems."
