Sony claims new company marks a ‘renewed commitment’ to PlayStation

SCE, SNE merged to form Sony Interactive Entertainment

Two divisions of Sony have been merged to form a brand new firm that will marry the operations behind PlayStation and the company’s other network entertainment ventures.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is comprised of Sony Computer Entertainment – the division behind PlayStation – and Sony Network Entertainment. It will be based in San Mateo, California and will “serve as the headquarters for everything PlayStation”, according to the PlayStation Blog.

“The formation of SIE will create an even stronger PlayStation,” the site’s Shawn Layden writes. “That means an even bigger emphasis on developing pioneering platforms like PS4 and PlayStation VR, world-class games from our World Wide Studios development teams, and innovative network services such as PlayStation Vue.

“It also means a renewed commitment to making PlayStation the best place to play.”
