Firm’s optimisation tech used for episodic Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands series

Simplygon scores Telltale partnership

The latest episodic hits from acclaimed studio Telltale Games use Simplygon’s optimisation tool, the company has revealed.

Simplygon has been used to optimise the 3D art assets for two of Telltale’s ongoing series: Game of Thrones, based on the hit TV show, and Tales from the Borderlands, which continues the story of Gearbox’s wacky RPG shooter franchise.

The tech enables Telltale to create high quality Level of Detail models, meshes and scenes that have reduced the size of the in-game models. It has also improved the performance of the games on the eight platforms each series is being developed for: Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC, Mac, iOS and Android.

“Working across multiple platforms on over 6,000 compatible devices, our unique live development process for each of our series demands the best in automation for the assets of our games,” said Telltale’s VP of engineering Zac Litton. “Simplygon has helped make what we do possible in the shortest amount of time at an incredible quality that offers a premium Telltale experience across each device.”
